We stayed at Plataran for four nights, and overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Plataran is a hidden oasis in Ubud. Despite its central location in the city, the hotel rooms are set far away from the busy streets. We were impressed by the expansive size of the resort, which is surrounded by spacious patches of paddy fields and tropical bushes. The view from every corner of the hotel is absolutely stunning, and we took numerous beautiful photos during our stay. We were also delighted with our suite room, which was spacious and comfortable. It featured a balcony with two cosy chairs, facing the swimming pool, lush garden, and a rice field. The buffet breakfast offered a variety of tasty options, including Indonesian cuisine and Western-style dishes. We had no complaints about the food. The staff at Plataran were welcoming and friendly. We received warm greetings from the staff wherever we encountered them during our stay. We also made use of the gym a couple of times in the morning. We appreciated the well-equipped fitness house with floor-to-ceiling glass, which provided a pleasant view of the beautiful rice fields and playful ducks while we worked out. Additionally, we tried the spa, and it was a very relaxing and satisfying experience.

The staff were wonderful, so friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable with a lovely view out across the pool, and the balcony was nice to stand out on. The breakfast restaurant had a beautiful outlook, and the breakfasts were lovely. A smallish continental style buffet (with lots of fruit to choose from) and then a choice of mains (both Balinese and European from the menu.) Position of the hotel is super - you feel as if you are in the countryside, and yet you are only a stone's throw from the main areas of Ubud. There is a lane that takes you from the guest bedrooms to the main restaurant which then leads out onto one of the main roads in Ubud. It took us about 30 minutes to walk to the Palace and the main market, although the hotel helped us with taxis, and made everything very easy if we wanted to get anywhere.

Everything we ate at the restaurant was truly delicious and as a coeliac I could confidently enjoying a variety of delicious Indonesian dishes; a meal on the outdoor deck became our favorite spot in Ubud! We alternated between the two swimming pools and appreciated the opportunities to particpate in the guest activities including weaving a “kisa” & making Jamu; our interactions with all staff were warm and friendly. The hotels CHSE certification was evident and I appreciated the measures taken to be environmentally sustainable.
